Guyonne Saclier de la Bรขtie took over Chรขteau de Bonnezeaux in 2012. It had been over 30 years since the winery had produced a bottle of wine and the vineyards sat abandoned for most of that time. Guyonne saw the grand potential in these 70 year old vines and began the long and arduous work of rehabilitating these semi-feral vineyards. In that short time, he has turned Chรขteau de Bonnezeaux into one of the most exciting estates in the Loire Valley.
Guyonne apprenticed under the legendary Mark Angeli at Ferme de Sansonniรจre. Angeli pioneered the use of biodynamic farming in the region, and was one of the first winemakers to eschew traditional wine laws and produce high quality dry wine where only sweet winemaking was permitted. Following in Angeliโs footsteps, Guyonne implemented biodynamic farming at Chรขteau de Bonnezeaux, and began producing dry wines of extraordinary quality.
