Domaine du Bagnol sits right at the edge of the Mediterranean, nestled beneath the limestone cliffs of Cap Canaille in Cassis, Provence. The estate has long been a standard-bearer for serious, site-driven rosé, made with organic farming and old-school techniques that put freshness and texture first.

The 2024 rosé is a blend of Grenache, Cinsault, and Mourvèdre, grown on limestone and clay soils that give the wine its signature mineral lift. Fermented and aged in stainless steel, it’s bottled early to preserve its crispness and energy.

Rather than chase fruit or flash, this rosé is about subtlety and structure: think pale peach, grapefruit zest, wild herbs, and a hint of sea breeze. There’s enough savory depth to pair with food, and enough elegance to sip on its own. If you're looking for a Provence rosé with real pedigree, this is it.

Domaine du Bagnol is only 200 meters from the sea. The sun is hot and the grapes (Grenache, Mourvedre and Cinsault) have no trouble ripening. But the breezes that make the village so pleasant for the people lucky enough to summer there also keep the fruit feeling fresh.

And the rocky hills are full of clay and limestone. Beautiful to look at and just as beautiful to taste in the wine they grow. The limestone-mineral structure and clay-rich layers of fruit are balanced beautifully by the tang of sea breeze and mountain wind. Given the natural beauty it only makes sense that Bagnol farms entirely using organic and biodynamic practices, no chemicals of any kind get anywhere near these vines!

What importer Rosenthal Wine Merchant has to say about this wine...

No estate expresses the salt-kissed limestone-driven terroir of the idyllic Provençal seaside village of Cassis like Domaine du Bagnol, and the current generation, Sébastien Genovesi, crafts a rosé of scintillating energy, chiseled calcareous musculature, and gleaming red fruits. Comprising 50% Grenache, 30% Cinsault, and 20% Mourvèdre, Bagnol’s Cassis Rosé is pressed directly and rapidly (in under two hours) to extract as little color as possible, and the bottled wine (certified organic) contains only 20 milligrams per liter of total sulfur—a factor which contributes to its gorgeous purity of texture and intense evocation of limestone soil.
