What is this wine?
Donnafugata, one of Sicily’s most renowned producers, crafts wines from across the island, including on the volcanic slopes of Mount Etna. Sul Vulcano (“on the volcano”) is their Etna Rosso, made primarily from Nerello Mascalese with a touch of Nerello Cappuccio. Sourced from high-altitude, terraced vineyards, the wine is fermented in stainless steel and aged in large oak casks to preserve purity while adding finesse. The 2021 vintage was cool and balanced, producing reds of elegance, perfume, and fine structure.
