Over three generations, Heitz Wine Cellars has helped define modern-day Napa Valley. Founded in 1961 by the late Joe Heitz and his wife Alice, the winery has built a reputation for producing world-class wines of distinction, including one of Napa’s benchmark Cabernet Sauvignons, the Martha’s Vineyard; a wine that James Laube from Wine Spectator has referred to as one of California’s “grands crus.”

During that 50 year span not much has changed at Heitz. Stylistically the wines have remained true to what made them world famous in the 1970s; powerful and concentrated but balanced with a vibrant nature and structure that allows them to age gracefully for decades. That structure and elegance is a Heitz trademark.

Professional Reviews

Antonio Galloni

AG 94
"Power, ripeness and structure meld together in the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Martha's Vineyard. Firm beams of tannin give the wine much of its backbone, although the wine remains opulent, full-bodied and intense. Sweet tobacco, incense, licorice, smoke and cedar add nuance in a voluptuous Martha's Vineyard that can be enjoyed with minimal cellaring. This is a terrific showing." -Vinous

Wine Spectator

WS 92
"Dense and powerful, with a weighty core of dense currant, herb, mint, bay leaf and smoke flavors. At a good drinking stage now, as the fruit purity is impressive and vibrant. Drink now through 2024."
