J-M Sélèque’s Champagne Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut "Le Quintette" is a striking expression of Chardonnay sourced from five villages in the Coteaux Sud d'Épernay. Third-generation vigneron Jean-Marc Sélèque farms these parcels with a deep respect for biodiversity, practicing organic and regenerative viticulture to capture the purity of the region’s chalky terroir. Fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged partly in oak, this cuvée is built on a perpetual reserve, adding depth and seamless integration across vintages. With a dosage of just 2 g/L, it remains precise and crystalline, allowing the character of its old-vine Chardonnay to shine.

Lithe and electric, Le Quintette bursts with aromas of lemon zest, crisp pear, and white flowers, layered with delicate notes of almond and chalk. The palate is racy and structured, yet silky in its persistence, unfolding with waves of green apple, citrus pith, and a saline edge that lingers long after each sip. Its mineral-driven intensity makes it an exceptional match for oysters, crudo, or a simple plate of scallops in beurre blanc. For lovers of chiseled, terroir-driven Champagne, this is Sélèque at his most refined and expressive.

The story of JM Sélèque is virtually identical to so many other estates’: a prodigal son returns to his family domaine and starts farming organically—in his case, with some biodynamic practices—and working to dramatically increase the quality and unique identity of his family’s wine.

Jean-Marc works tirelessly in the vineyards and in the cellars, and in fact is the estate’s sole employee. The only reason all of his farming isn't biodynamic is because his parcels are so far away from each other, sprinkled across the Côteaux Sud d’Épernay, a region best known for its lithe and mineral-driven Champagnes made from a blend of the three main grapes. His family has held the domaine for several generations so the vines are old—averaging 40 years of age for his youngest—and yields are low, giving his Champagne incredible concentration and great purity.
