Kistler Vineyards is a family owned estate, founded in 1978. They produce both of the main Burgundy varietals, but are most known for their various heritage Chardonnay bottlings from throughout Sonoma county. The wines are produced using native yeasts, French oak, and are unfined and unfiltered.

Kistler has a passionate focus on a unique heritage Californian clonal selection, today planted across fifteen vineyards in Carneros, Sonoma Valley, Russian River Valley, and the Sonoma Coast. Their wines, across the range and for many years now, have been exactly what we want to drink when we want elegant, complex, definitive California Chardonnay.

Longtime winemaker Jason Kesner harvests fruit in the dark, taking advantage of Sonoma's chilly, crisp nights when these perfect clusters are in their most pristine state. Chardonnays are fermented in subterranean barrel cellar with native yeast. The throughline is magnificent texture and formidable, lingering intensity.

"The 2018 Pinot Noir Silver Belt Vineyard Cuvรฉe Natalie opens with a burst of ripe red/purplish berry fruit. Iron, game, savory herbs and rose petal add layers of intrigue. Overall, though the Cuvรฉe Natalie remains a bit austere and unyielding. The aromatics are quite expressive, and yet the wine is far less forthcoming on the palate. Star anise, blood orange and spice give the 2018 an attractive exotic quality. It will be interesting to see if the 2018 comes together a bit more fully with time in bottle." -Vinous

"Medium ruby-purple, the 2018 Pinot Noir Cuvรฉe Natalie Silver Belt Vineyard has a gorgeous, classically Kistler nose: crushed cranberries, blackberries and rhubarb with nuances of violets, dried tobacco, underbrush and blood orange peelโ€”itโ€™s like staring into a well of archetypal Pinot Noir with all its ripe berry fruit and bitters-tinged accents. The palate is medium-bodied and offers up all the flavor layers in the Pinot Noir toolbox, but with expert restraint, the fruit making way for the amaro accents. It has a silky texture and very fine grain, with seamless freshness and a very long, very nuanced finish."
