La Comarcal is at the epicenter of a small revolution happening in and around the Valencia DO in southeastern Spain. Mostly known for international style wines grown in the flatlands and heavily influenced by the wines of Napa Valley and Bordeaux, La Comarcal along with a small coterie of like minded producers are making wines from old vines grown in the mountains that are at the periphery of the DO. Influenced by the wines of their ancestors as well as other boundary breakers from around the world, they are helping to redefine this often maligned region.
Founded in 2017 by two friends, Javi Revert and Victor Marqués. La Comarcal (the District) is located high up in the Mountains east of Valencia in the village of Venta del Moro. Inspired by the old vineyards they work with, they are myopically focused on making delicious, youthful wines that are new expressions of their beloved mountain vineyards.
