Pierre Moncuit Champagne Blanc de Blancs Brut NV (375ml)

$2499

For over a century, the Moncuit family has crafted some of the most classically styled Blanc de Blancs in Champagne, working exclusively with Grand Cru Chardonnay from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. Under the leadership of Nicole Moncuit and her daughter Valérie, the estate follows a single-harvest approach for its non-vintage wines, focusing on transparency and terroir expression rather than blending reserve wines. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel to preserve freshness, and the wine is aged extensively on the lees before bottling with a modest dosage, ensuring a balance of richness and precision.

This half-bottle format perfectly encapsulates Moncuit’s signature style—elegant, mineral-driven, and vibrantly expressive. Aromas of white flowers, lemon zest, and crushed seashells lead into a palate of crisp green apple, pear, and a delicate touch of brioche. The chalky terroir of Le Mesnil lends remarkable tension and finesse, while extended lees aging contributes depth and a fine, creamy mousse.

Linear and refreshing, with a long, mineral-infused finish, this is an ideal aperitif Champagne but has the structure to shine with food. Its bright acidity and saline backbone make it a natural match for oysters, gougères, or a simple plate of sashimi, highlighting the purity and elegance that define Moncuit’s wines.

More about Pierre Moncuit

In 1889, Pierre Moncuit and his wife, Odile Moncuit-Delos, established the house of Champagne Pierre Moncuit. Since 1977, Nicole Moncuit has managed the vineyards and made the wine, while her brother Yves has managed the sales and business side of things. More recently, Nicole’s daughter Valerie has been actively assisting in the cellar.

The majority of Moncuit’s vines are 50 years or older, and two parcels are just shy of their 100th birthday. In a region known for replanting vines before they reach their 30's to ensure more vigorous production, these old vines represent a rare commitment to farming and tradition.

Their focus in the cellar is to bring out the purity of fruit and minerality of the soils without too much intervention. To achieve this, no wood is used during elevage but the wines are allowed to go to malolactic fermentation.
