Ruinart Blanc Singulier Edition 18 is composed of 100% chardonnay from 80% of wines from the harvest in 2018 and 20% of reserve wines. It is made mainly from about twenty vintages, from the Côte des Blancs but also from the Montagne de Reims, the Coteaux d'Epernay and Sézannais.

Known as the oldest established champagne house, Ruinart has been producing wine since 1729 to please royalty in the Court of Versailles. And to this day, the wines are stunning, texturally decadent, yet focused and complex.

With Chef de Caves Frederic Panaiotis at the helm since 2007, one could say that the champagnes are better than ever. Fred's sharp acumen, passion for wine, and inimitable demeanor make him one of the most significant figures in Champagne today. While he modestly considers himself a guardian of the house style for other generations to follow, we think the wines are distinctively showing more precision and clarity since his tenure.

"The NV Blanc Singulier 2018 Édition is a new wine from Ruinart done Brut Nature, with no dosage, meant to represent a contemporary expression of Champagne. Bright and beautifully focused, the Blanc Singulier offers up scents of lemon confit, marzipan, white flowers and chalk. Although 2018 was the warmest year ever in Champagne, the 2018 impresses with its considerable nervous energy and overall brilliance. About 20% of the blend is composed of reserve wines aged in cask, which no doubt adds to its overall complexity. I imagine future releases will be even more compelling. Main fruit sources are Côte des Blancs (Bergère-les-Vertus, Oger, Le Mesnil), Montagne de Reims (Taissy) and Côteau d’Epernay (Epernay)." -Vinous
