Tierra Fundida
Tierra Fundida is a brand-new import — it landed in New York just last year. They work just 3.5 hectares, in the Valle de la Orotava, in the north of Tenerife, growing native grapes like Listán Blanco, Albillo Criollo, Negramoll and Verdello. Everything is done by hand and by gravity; they use an old vertical press, concrete and clay for fermentation, and clay and barrels for aging. There are free range farm animals roaming everywhere, and the winemakers live on site. These are pure, elegant expressions of Tenerife’s wild terroir.
What importer Bowler Wine has to say about this wine...
A blend of Listán Negro, Negramoll and Castellana Negra (Tinta Cao) from the Finca el Adelantado vineyard, soils here are volcanic with a mix of clay/loam at 480m elevation. All grape varieties are vinified separately, foot trodden and fermented whole cluster in concrete. Aged in a combination of 500L, 700L and 1,000L French oak barrels for five months, blended together and transferred to concrete for further maturation. 2,900 bottles produced.
