What is this wine?
Torre dei Beati is a family estate in Loreto Aprutino, in the Abruzzo region, farming organically since its founding in 1999. Their Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo is made from 100% Montepulciano, pressed gently and fermented in stainless steel to preserve freshness and aromatics. The style is traditional for the region: darker and more structured than Provençal rosé, but still lively and refreshing. The 2023 vintage produced bright, balanced wines in Abruzzo, perfect for this expressive rosato.

Why get this wine?
This is a benchmark Cerasuolo, consistently regarded as one of Abruzzo’s best examples. It combines the juicy red fruit of Montepulciano with the freshness of rosé, making it more versatile at the table than many lighter styles. It’s a serious rosato with character, while still priced for everyday drinking.

What does this wine taste like?
Vivid cherry and strawberry with notes of pomegranate, rose, and spice. Medium-bodied for a rosé, with juicy acidity and a lingering, mineral finish. Both refreshing and food-friendly.

When should you drink this wine?
Drink now through 2026 for its freshness and vibrancy. Ideal with charcuterie, grilled fish, tomato-based pasta, or Mediterranean vegetables. Serve well chilled.

Torre Dei Beati

Torre dei Beati’s next door neighbor is arguably the most famous wine grower in Abruzzo (arguably Italy’s most famous region for gastronomic delights) — Eduardo Valentini. If you can even find a bottle of Valentini, you’ll walk away from the experience your wallet a bit lighter.

Fortunately, Torre dei Beati offers a range of classic Abruzzese wines from similar terroir for far less. The estate is certified organic, not so common in this part of Italy, and a combination of elevation and clay-limestone soils ensure delicacy and elegance. The goal is to produce classic, gastronomic wines with a real sense of place.

Professional Reviews

Antonio Galloni

AG 92
"The 2023 Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo Rosa-ae is bright, ripe, citrusy and energetic. It rushes forth with notes of blood orange, grapefruit and a distinct current of saline minerality. The acidity is almost electric here, generating a real sense of forward motion that is quite enjoyable. Deep, complex, nuanced hints of lavender and rose linger on the driven, persistent finish." -Vinous

Wine Enthusiast

WE 92
"The nose is full of sweet, floral aromas of cherry blossom, wild strawberry and watermelon candy, while the palate takes those same notes and gives them a salty, almost flinty edge to create an overall feel that's bouncy and energetic, but cohesive." -Danielle Callegari
