Back in a bygone era before COVID ever cursed this Earth, we hosted in our tasting room Drew Huffine and Emily Virgil, who shared their craft wines produced from some of California’s coolest climates. The wines – from Mendocino and Santa Ynez, were a hit. All of you love the style: juicy, high acid, and low alcohol. 

Since that visit, Drew and Emily have gone off on a slightly new adventure in the Santa Cruz mountains. There they came across Pruy Foxx, a “grape whisperer” intimate with all of the mountains’ best sites. He now farms for them two vineyards in the area, including one site, Severia, that is so cool that the harvest is about a month after the Sonoma Coast’s! 

Drew and Emily have fallen in love with the grapes and wines produced from these sites, and they are now becoming the new stars of this tiny winery.
Today we have their outstanding 2022 Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir. It is made up of fruit from both Saveria and Ferrari vineyards. Farming is organic. A little whole cluster (30%) is employed. Aging is entirely in used barrels.

Trail Marker

Trail Marker is another one of our fabulous new California discoveries. A tiny production, craft winery that sources fruit from small, responsibly farmed and passionately cared for vineyards from Mendocino to Santa Ynez. Run by husband and wife duo Drew and Emily, their winemaking style allows them to make wines that are juicy, high acid, low alcohol — well balanced expressions of these excellent vineyards. From native Austrian varietals such as Blaufrankisch and Zweigelt to Chardonnay and Pinot, all of their wines are delicious and expressive!
