Maxime Cottenceau trained under legendary Vincent Dureuil before taking over his family vineyard in 2018, and this Chardonnay from the Côte Chalonnaise shows why the region deserves your attention. Aged 14 months in barrels followed by six months in tank, Champ Pourot delivers a rich, floral profile with yellow-fruit purity that's anything but restrained. Left Chardonnay

Maxime Cottenceau's family has been growing and selling off its grapes in Montagny for generations. After spending three years with Vincent Dureuil, he decided, in 2018, to start making and bottling his own wines. They are finally available here in the United States.

Stylistically, the wines echo Dureuil-Janthial’s depth, detail and cut, but there is a bit more power, and a bit more opulence — that’s Montagny's influence.
