What is this wine?
Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux, based in Vosne-Romanée and now led by Charles Lachaux, has become one of Burgundy’s most sought-after domaines, thanks to meticulous biodynamic farming, extensive whole-cluster fermentations, and a style that emphasizes perfume and finesse. Aux Reignots is a steep, limestone-rich premier cru that sits just above Romanée-Conti, considered one of the village’s greatest vineyards. The 2016 vintage was marked by severe frost and low yields, producing wines of great concentration, balance, and age-worthiness.
Why get this wine?
Arnoux-Lachaux’s wines have entered cult status, with allocations nearly impossible to secure. Aux Reignots is among the domaine’s crown jewels—a premier cru often spoken of as “grand cru in all but name.” The 2016 vintage, with its rare combination of power, perfume, and scarcity due to frost, makes this an extraordinary collector’s bottle.
What does this wine taste like?
Vivid red cherry, raspberry, and plum with rose petal, exotic spice, and herbal lift from whole clusters. Silky yet structured, with fine-grained tannins, lively acidity, and a long, perfumed finish.
When should you drink this wine?
Best 2026–2045. Decant young bottles gently. A natural pairing with refined dishes like duck, pigeon, or truffle risotto.
