E. Guigal’s La Landonne, first produced in 1978, is the most structured of the estate’s famed single-vineyard Côte-Rôties. The 1981 vintage comes from old Syrah vines on Côte Brune’s steep, iron-rich slopes, vinified with extended maceration and aged in new oak.

This bottling reflects Marcel Guigal’s pursuit of precision and cellar longevity. Its firm tannins and deep concentration underscore the wine’s standing in Guigal’s iconic “La La” trilogy.

This is a must-know producer, primarily because they produce about 1/3 of the AOC’s wines through both contracts and their own holdings. They are also hugely important for the historical reasons mentioned above. With their “La La’s” – the three single vineyard wines they release called La Landonne, La Turque and La Mouline – they have produced vintage after vintage of monumental wines that have won top praise in the international press.
