This is a must-know producer, primarily because they produce about 1/3 of the AOCโ€™s wines through both contracts and their own holdings. They are also hugely important for the historical reasons mentioned above. With their โ€œLa Laโ€™sโ€ โ€“ the three single vineyard wines they release called La Landonne, La Turque and La Mouline โ€“ they have produced vintage after vintage of monumental wines that have won top praise in the international press.

"A fully mature example of La Mouline, the huge, smoky, bacon fat, cassis-scented perfume jumps from the glass of this seductive, hedonistic wine. The 1982 has been delicious from birth due to its low acidity and fat, open-knit character. There is no amber or lightening at the edge of its dark ruby/purple color. The wine exhibits a thick, unctuous texture, gobs of fruit, and plenty of heady alcohol in the blockbuster finish." -Robert Parker
