The 2023 High Fidelity is built around Cabernet Franc from Madrona Ranch, David Abreu's own vineyard in St. Helena. Abreu is also the viticulturist who replanted Cliff Lede's estate, matching each block to its soil and exposure. Cabernet Franc leads the blend this year, with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon close behind and a splash of Petit Verdot, so expect a spicier, more aromatic take on Napa red than the usual Cabernet-first style. The rest of the blend is Cliff Lede's own estate fruit. Every block on the estate is named for a rock song Cliff loves (the "Rock Blocks"). Yields are kept to 2 to 3 tons per acre, only a few of the best lots go into the wine, and it spent 22 months in French oak, 78% of it new. Just 1,193 cases were made. And it's "Lede" as in "lady," so now you can order it with confidence.

Returns & Exchanges

We stand behind every bottle we sell.

  • If the wine is less than 10 years old and it is corked, you may return it to us for a full refund or exchange within 60 days of purchase. You must show us proof of purchase. We understand that you may not live near a shop and that it is difficult to ship open bottles of wine to us, so if there's any problem feel free to Contact Us and we'll work it out.
  • For wines older than 10 years, the consumer bears the risk of a faulty cork, but we accept returns of older bottles if the wine is faulty as a result of improper storage. Please come by the store or Contact Us if there is a problem.
  • We may, at our discretion and to the extent permitted by law, accept returns of unopened wines within 30 days of purchase if they were properly stored by the purchaser, subject to a 15% re-stocking fee.

"Includes 1% each of Malbec and Petit Verdot. A right-bank–inspired blend, the Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon come from the estate’s Rhythm Vineyard, while the Cabernet Franc is sourced from Madrona Ranch. Aged for 22 months in 58% new French oak, this wine is deeply flavourful, showing spiced plum, cherry, and cherrywood notes, with wonderfully delicious cocoa powder tannins and a firm spine of zesty blood orange acidity. Layers of mild Indian spices and elegant cedarwood add further complexity, while a lifted florality keeps the wine fresh and vibrant."

Ribeye with a smoked-paprika rub; braised short ribs; lamb shoulder roasted with cumin and cardamom; duck breast with a cherry sauce; aged Gouda.

Tasting Profile

Smells of warm plum, smoked paprika, incense and spice. In the mouth you get cassis, dried cherry and black tea. Full-bodied and velvety with fine, powdery tannins, and a long finish of cardamom and Luxardo cherry.
