De Sousa preserves old vines and traditions in pursuit of excellence. This 100% Chardonnay draws from four Grand Cru villages—Avize, Oger, Cramant, and Le Mesnil—farmed organically and aged over 24 months on lees. Roasted coffee and intense florals move through dried fruits and eucalyptus before finishing with honey, brioche, and butter balanced by ripe citrus freshness. Extra Brut dosage keeps this razor-sharp.

Antonio Galloni

91 points

"Pale gold. Ripe citrus and orchard fruits on the nose, with complicating notes of tarragon, toasty lees and white flowers. Juicy and expansive, offering chewy pear and Meyer lemon flavors and a deeper note of candied fig. At once rich and lively, finishing with strong thrust and lingering mineral and floral qualities. This hefty yet lithe Champagne will match effortlessly with a range of foods, especially creatures that once swam in salt water but now swim in melted butter. Most of this fruit was grown in Avize, with the rest from Cramant and Oger" —Josh Raynolds

Robert Parker

93 points

"Sourced from grapes from Avize, Oger, Craman and Mesnil-sur-Oger (70% in 2008, Réserve 2007 and 2006), the NV Grand Cru Réserve Blanc de Blancs Brut was bottled in April 2014 and disgorged in March 2015. This Champagne offers a bright and intense lemon flavor with good salinity. This is a very complex and tension-filled Champagne, with lots of salinity, purity and minerality. The palate is very long and stimulating in its Sherry-like salinity. There is great grip and tension here, although it is still very young." —Stephan Reinhardt

Decanter

91 points

"Orchard fruit, menthol, pear and white pepper scents offer up a lovely energetic and elegant bouquet. The palate is vinous and fleshy in texture, with well-managed acidity and a chalky, mineral finish. The grapes come mainly from Avize, with the balance from Cramant and Oger."

Perfect Pairings

Rich and complex enough for roast chicken, lobster, or aged Comté, while razor-sharp acidity keeps it fresh with raw oysters.
