Joseph-Jibril Carbonic Red Wine 2025

This is a dry, light-bodied red that's meant to be drunk, not analyzed: made by carbonic maceration, the same method behind Beaujolais's juiciest, most gulpable reds. Jaam Moynihan and Robert Huff make Joseph-Jibril as crushable, low-intervention wines from organically farmed California grapes, and this bottle may be the clearest example of that idea. They buy from small family-owned vineyards that farm organically, ferment with native yeasts and stay out of the way in the cellar. The Carbonic is the red you pour when you want something fruity and easy that still has real personality. Their motto is "real wine for real people," and that sums it up: no pretension, just a bright red for weeknight dinners, picnics and a crowded holiday table.
