The story of Poderi Ruggeri Corsini is not an ancient one going back generations. Ok, you could tell the story of Nikola Argamente’s great-grandfather, a Tsarist era general and his grandfather who left during the Bolshevik revolution only to be captured by Russian agents during WWII. And how his son, Nicola’s father, made his way to Italy and so on and so on.
But the story of this fantastic little winery begins in the early 1990s when Nicola and his soon to be wife, Loredana, discovered a small hamlet in the countryside outside of Torino where they were studying. They purchased this property, known as Corsini and because there were vines and because they were just a few miles from Monforte d’Alba and some of the more famous wineries in Piedmont, they became winemakers.
Today Nicola and Loredana are joined by their two daughters and together they make a range of deliciously humble, true to variety and terroir wines. They farm the whole property without chemicals, eschewing all pesticides and herbicides and using only copper and sulfur sprays if necessary.
