A Parisian by birth, and a law school dropout by choice, Romain le Bars could be considered the spiritual heir to the groundbreaking natural wine estate Domaine de l’Anglore. A bottle of Eric Pfifferling’s Tavel rosé changed the course of Romain’s life — he went onto work for Pfifferling for close to a decade, learning the ropes and crafting sensuous, yet elegant reds, whites and the classic dark rosé that is accepted as AOC Tavel. For his eponymous line, he works almost exclusively with Grenache and Syrah, either carbonic or with a very light pressing, and aged in old wooden barrels. The wines are juicy, ebullient and rife with sun-ripened fruit.
