Champagne Serge Gallois is regarded as a “Recoltant Cooperateur”, this means that they are a cooperative-grower who markets co-op produced Champagne under their own label. Sometimes growers share facilities to save on costs, but it all still comes down to who is growing the grapes and the terroir from which they come.
The Gallois family grows and uses 100% of their own grapes that are made in this co-op facility. We've been told that they are in the process of building their own winery, once finished the more “buzzworthy” title of Recoltant Manipulant will be bestowed upon them. They are based in the Cotes des Blancs which tells us we are in Chardonnay country, more specifically in the village of Vertus. This is a 1er cru village which boasts a fresher and more floral style of Chardonnay as opposed to its more serious cousins in Les Mesnil sur Oger.
