Aldo Sohm and Gerhard Kracher are two of the most famous names in Austrian wine culture.
Aldo was voted both best Sommelier in Austria AND the United states has been the Beverage Director of Le Bernadin and owner of Sohm Wine Bar since 2007 and 2014 respectively. He's one of the world's most proficient experts on wine, and yet had never made a single bottle himself.
Gerhard is the son of Alois Kracher Jr., who is responsible for producing some of the world's greatest trockenbeerenauslese and putting in his region of Seewinkl, Burgenland on the map. Gerhard took over for his father after his passing, carrying on his tradition of craftsmanship at the tender age of 19.
Although Gerhard is an Austrian winemaker, he had never made a wine from Austria's most famous grape: Grüner Veltliner. So when the two met and became friends in 2004, they conspired to make their dreams come true by making a first for both: their very own Grüner Veltliner.
