Hendrick's is the gin built around cucumber and rose, and that's why so many people reach for it when they want a gin and tonic with a softer, more floral edge. It's Scottish, distilled in Girvan on the South Ayrshire coast, a mile inland and looking out at the volcanic island of Ailsa Craig. Two uncommon stills share the work: a Bennet still and a Carter-Head still. Eleven other botanicals go in, and then the gin is infused with rose and cucumber. The producer says to serve it with a fresh slice of cucumber, since cucumber is already in the gin. The full 750ml bottle is the one to get if Hendrick's is your regular G&T rather than an occasional pour.
