Andrew Will is the undisputed master of the Washington single-vineyard wine. Founder Chris Camarda’s Ciel du Cheval and Champoux bottlings have set the standard since his first vintage in 1989—and with credit to both Chris and his talented young son Will, who’s now at the helm, I’d argue this estate has achieved mastery on another front: elegant, graceful Washington Merlot. Once again through the prism of the single-vineyard wine, we can find a balance and tension sometimes lacking in New World expressions of this grape. We need only look up.
