Bertrand-Delespierre Champagne 1er Cru Extra Brut Autour de la Creusette 2018

A single-parcel, single-vintage Champagne from a grower who farms every one of his own vines — the kind of bottle that shows you what one patch of the Montagne de Reims actually tastes like. Didier Bertrand and Chantal Delespierre run this family estate as an RM grower-producer, meaning everything in the bottle comes off their own 24 acres, all of it in Premier Cru villages and most of it around Chamery. The house style is built for tension rather than richness: gentle pressing in a traditional wooden basket press, and malolactic conversion generally avoided so the acidity stays bright and the aromatics stay sharp. Part of the estate is fully organic, with the rest in conversion. It's bottled Extra Brut, so there's almost nothing sweet propping it up — this is Champagne as a wine, and it drinks best from a proper wine glass rather than a flute.

Returns & Exchanges

We stand behind every bottle we sell.

  • If the wine is less than 10 years old and it is corked, you may return it to us for a full refund or exchange within 60 days of purchase. You must show us proof of purchase. We understand that you may not live near a shop and that it is difficult to ship open bottles of wine to us, so if there's any problem feel free to Contact Us and we'll work it out.
  • For wines older than 10 years, the consumer bears the risk of a faulty cork, but we accept returns of older bottles if the wine is faulty as a result of improper storage. Please come by the store or Contact Us if there is a problem.

Tasting Notes & Food Pairings

Perfect Pairings

Oysters on the half shell, fried chicken, roast chicken with herbed butter, salt-cod brandade, seared scallops, or a plate of aged Comté.

Tasting Profile

Dry and bracing, with citrus peel and orchard fruit. Medium-bodied with firm, driving acidity — lean and chalky rather than round, and the finish is long, dry and savory.
