"Here the reduction is strong enough to hide what appears to be very ripe fruit. There is by contrast good freshness and punch to the beautifully detailed and intense middle weight flavors that possess a textured, precise and well-balanced finish. This is an excellent villages and worth a look."

"The 2009 Meursault Meix Chevaux literally covers the palate with fruit. This is another stunning wine at the village level. Slate, crushed rocks and all things mienrall buffer the fruit in this complex, multi-dimensional wine. The sheer purity here is striking." —Antonio Galloni

"The 2009 Meix Chavaux, which lies downhill from Vireuils and Luchets, has a delicate flinty nose that is nicely defined, but if truth be told, I was anticipating a little more attach and vigor. The palate has an effervescent quality about it, beautifully poised with hints of freshly sliced apricot and a squeeze of lime. There is a lovely build in the mouth that goes some way to compensating for the aromatics. Very fine. Tasted March 2013." —Neal Martin

"Juts opposite Vireuils. Juicy green fruits and a little more lift than the previous wines. Racy and fine though not spiritual! Quite solid."

More about Domaine Roulot

The name Roulot is now a synonym for the very best wine that the village of Meursault can offer. It is rather remarkable when you consider that just 2 generations back the Roulot's were known as producers of Burgundian brandy and eau de vie. But Guy Roulot began leveraging the family's distilling success to purchase small plots of vines in Meursault and by the 1970's was known as a pioneer for producing top quality chardonnay from distinct parcels or ""lieu-dits"".

When Guy passed away unexpectedly in the early '80's his son Jean-Marc was pursuing acting in Paris. In 1989 he returned to take on the reigns of the small Domaine and in the following decades built on his father's success so well that the wines are now extremely hard to acquire and to afford for most of us.
