The highest vineyard on the estate, and it tastes like it: Tip Top sits at 1,700 to 2,000 feet on terraced mountain slopes, planted in 1999 to a mix of head-trained and cordon-trained vines, and it yields the leanest, piniest of Green & Red's Zinfandels. The soils are Sobrante loam shot through with red chert and serpentine gravels — the geology that gave the estate its name — organically farmed in Napa's Chiles Valley. Up at that altitude the vines sit above the fog with cold nights, which keeps acidity high and alcohol in check, so this is Zinfandel of bay laurel, madrone and forest floor rather than sweet jam. 2019 was a generous Napa vintage, which rounds out the site's natural austerity. Decant it, and don't be afraid to hold a bottle another five or six years.

Returns & Exchanges

We stand behind every bottle we sell.

  • If the wine is less than 10 years old and it is corked, you may return it to us for a full refund or exchange within 60 days of purchase. You must show us proof of purchase. We understand that you may not live near a shop and that it is difficult to ship open bottles of wine to us, so if there's any problem feel free to Contact Us and we'll work it out.
  • For wines older than 10 years, the consumer bears the risk of a faulty cork, but we accept returns of older bottles if the wine is faulty as a result of improper storage. Please come by the store or Contact Us if there is a problem.
  • We may, at our discretion and to the extent permitted by law, accept returns of unopened wines within 30 days of purchase if they were properly stored by the purchaser, subject to a 15% re-stocking fee.

Tasting Profile

Warm plum and dark berry scented with pine, bay laurel and madrone. Focused and lean for Zinfandel, medium-bodied, with bright acidity and firm, foresty tannins. The finish is dry, herbal and long.
