The single vineyard that made La Colombera's name, and the wine people cellar. Il Montino is a selected parcel of Timorasso in the hills above Tortona, planted from massal selection of the estate's best biotypes on light and dark clay soils, and first bottled on its own in 2006. Where the classic Derthona is released young, this one is held roughly 28 months before it leaves the cellar — long enough on lees and in bottle for the grape's structure to knit together, and it will keep evolving for a decade or more, taking on the flinty, resinous, faintly petrol-like tertiary notes that Timorasso lovers chase. The Semino family farms organically without certification, works in neutral vessels only, and keeps sulfur to a minimum, so what you get is the site rather than the cellar. Open it a good hour ahead, or lay it down.

Returns & Exchanges

We stand behind every bottle we sell.

  • If the wine is less than 10 years old and it is corked, you may return it to us for a full refund or exchange within 60 days of purchase. You must show us proof of purchase. We understand that you may not live near a shop and that it is difficult to ship open bottles of wine to us, so if there's any problem feel free to Contact Us and we'll work it out.
  • For wines older than 10 years, the consumer bears the risk of a faulty cork, but we accept returns of older bottles if the wine is faulty as a result of improper storage. Please come by the store or Contact Us if there is a problem.
  • We may, at our discretion and to the extent permitted by law, accept returns of unopened wines within 30 days of purchase if they were properly stored by the purchaser, subject to a 15% re-stocking fee.
