Nebbiolo d'Alba comes from sites outside the Barolo and Barbaresco zones, giving you the grape's signature rose-and-tar perfume and fine tannins without the long wait or the big price. Colla works in the classic, low-intervention mold, aging this in large casks much as they would a Barbaresco. The 2023 is fresh and aromatic, ready to enjoy now with just a short decant. Think of it as Barolo's charming, more easygoing cousin.

Returns & Exchanges

We stand behind every bottle we sell.

  • If the wine is less than 10 years old and it is corked, you may return it to us for a full refund or exchange within 60 days of purchase. You must show us proof of purchase. We understand that you may not live near a shop and that it is difficult to ship open bottles of wine to us, so if there's any problem feel free to Contact Us and we'll work it out.
  • For wines older than 10 years, the consumer bears the risk of a faulty cork, but we accept returns of older bottles if the wine is faulty as a result of improper storage. Please come by the store or Contact Us if there is a problem.
  • We may, at our discretion and to the extent permitted by law, accept returns of unopened wines within 30 days of purchase if they were properly stored by the purchaser, subject to a 15% re-stocking fee.

More about Poderi Colla

The Colla family has been making wine in Piedmont for hundreds of years. It’s no surprise, then, that their wines are decidedly traditional—Nebbiolo with elegant, chiseled edges.

What is a surprise is that the estate was formed just 25 years ago, by Frederica Colla, the daughter of Barolo and Barbaresco superstar Beppe Colla. At Prunotto, Beppe was responsible for the gorgeous, hyper-traditional wines of the ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s.

Ardently traditional in his winemaking, Beppe refused to settle for the status quo; he was among the first to harness the unique terroirs of Piedmont by focusing on single vineyards. The practice of single-vineyard Barolo or Barbaresco is hardly revolutionary today, but it was virtually unheard of in the early ‘60s.
