Rene Geoffroy Champagne 1er Cru Brut Rose de Saignee NV (375ml)

$4499
From the producer: As a preamble the ruby red hue of this Rosé de Saignée is a pleasure for the eyes. The nose of this Champagne is a spring bouquet: rose, wild strawberry, raspberry and later blackberry combine perfectly to offer aromas, which would not be expected in a conventional rosé Champagne. The mouth follows on from the nose, and, thanks to the structure of the Pinot Noir, the vinosity of the finish is compelling. Because of this freshness, this Rosé de Saignée Champagne is best enjoyed young to take full advantage of aromas of small, fresh and crisp red berries.

"Geoffroy's NV Brut Rose de Saignee is absolutely gorgeous. Deep fleshy and wonderfully expressive the Rose has so much to offer. The flavors are racy and boldly sketched throughout. Raspberry mint dried flowers rose petal and star anise all fill out the wine's ample radiant frame. The 2014 edition of the Rose de Saignee is particularly outstanding." —Vinous

"Steeped raspberry and peach fruit flavors are up front and aromatic in this wild salmon?hued rosé accented by hints of dried herb rose petal orange rind and spice. Fresh and graceful with a fine satiny mousse."

More about Rene Geoffroy

The Geoffroy family has been farming in Cumières for hundreds of years, selling grapes to the big Champagne houses, until the 1970s, when they began making and bottling their own wines. A motto of theirs is 'extraordinary wines come from extraordinary grapes', and to that end, they endeavor to work sustainably with the environment at large. Among the many premier cru parcels they own, it’s easy to distinguish Geoffroy vines from others’, because of the lush grass growing between the rows.
