The 2015 is the concentrated one. A cold, wet flowering caused severe shatter across Napa that spring, and in a fourth consecutive drought year that meant a tiny crop of very small berries — exactly the conditions that suit mountain Zinfandel. Lore Olds planted Sky in 1973 on the highest reach of Mt. Veeder, 2,100 feet up on the eastern face, and has dry-farmed it ever since, farming organically for well over a decade now, running the winery off solar rather than the grid, hand-harvesting into one-ton open-top bins, punching down by hand three times a day and pressing in an old basket press. Shallow red volcanic soils supply the concentration and the elevation supplies the acidity, which is why this is built more like a structured Old World red than a Napa fruit bomb. A decade on it's fully resolved and drinking beautifully — a back-vintage bottle you don't need to wait on.

Returns & Exchanges

We stand behind every bottle we sell.

  • If the wine is less than 10 years old and it is corked, you may return it to us for a full refund or exchange within 60 days of purchase. You must show us proof of purchase. We understand that you may not live near a shop and that it is difficult to ship open bottles of wine to us, so if there's any problem feel free to Contact Us and we'll work it out.
  • For wines older than 10 years, the consumer bears the risk of a faulty cork, but we accept returns of older bottles if the wine is faulty as a result of improper storage. Please come by the store or Contact Us if there is a problem.
  • We may, at our discretion and to the extent permitted by law, accept returns of unopened wines within 30 days of purchase if they were properly stored by the purchaser, subject to a 15% re-stocking fee.

Tasting Profile

Deep garnet, just starting to brick at the rim. Mountain raspberry, dried blueberry, blood orange, leather and black pepper. Medium- to full-bodied with bright acidity and a mineral spine, finishing long and mouthwatering rather than sweet.
