The wine that convinced America a red blend could be a serious proposition, and it still tastes like nothing else on the shelf. Zinfandel is the engine, fleshed out here with Petite Sirah, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Malbec — a combination no appellation rulebook would sanction, which is exactly the point. The house traces the idea back to the Italian immigrants who originally settled Napa Valley; two decades on, the modern version leans full-bodied and openly opulent rather than austere. What keeps it honest is the farming behind it: fruit comes from long-standing grower partners including the Solari family in Calistoga, third-generation farmers who have sold Zinfandel here since 2005, and the Korte Ranch in St. Helena, a vineyard that outlasted Prohibition across four generations. Buy it for what it is — a plush, generous California red with real vineyards behind the famous label. The winery also gives 3% of Red Blend sales to The Center for Art & Advocacy.

Returns & Exchanges

We stand behind every bottle we sell.

  • If the wine is less than 10 years old and it is corked, you may return it to us for a full refund or exchange within 60 days of purchase. You must show us proof of purchase. We understand that you may not live near a shop and that it is difficult to ship open bottles of wine to us, so if there's any problem feel free to Contact Us and we'll work it out.
  • For wines older than 10 years, the consumer bears the risk of a faulty cork, but we accept returns of older bottles if the wine is faulty as a result of improper storage. Please come by the store or Contact Us if there is a problem.
  • We may, at our discretion and to the extent permitted by law, accept returns of unopened wines within 30 days of purchase if they were properly stored by the purchaser, subject to a 15% re-stocking fee.

Barbecue brisket and pork ribs with a sweet-smoky rub, burgers with aged cheddar and caramelized onion, braised short ribs, sausage-and-pepper pizza, or a plate of hard aged cheeses with dried fruit.

Tasting Profile

Full-bodied and rich. The nose runs to cranberry and blackberry with dried plum, vanilla, nutmeg and toasted coconut. The palate is soft and round, balancing red and black fruit against sweet baking spice, with tannins that stay smooth rather than grippy and a long, lush finish. Dry, but the ripeness reads generous. 15.5% alcohol.
