Nervi Conterno's Gorgeous 2025 Rosato is the Wine that Does it All

Nervi Conterno's Gorgeous 2025 Rosato is the Wine that Does it All

What happens when Barolo’s most exacting mind takes on rosé? That was the question we all asked when Roberto Conterno, the mastermind behind the legendary Barolo Riserva Monfortino, took charge of Nervi Conterno’s rosato.

We have our answer: he makes magic.

Il Rosato, or simply the rosato as he calls it, is the pink wine that does it all. First and foremost, it is a great rosé, refreshing with bright acidity and crisp fruit. But Gattinara is serious Alto Piemonte terroir, and there is no one making more impressive Nebbiolo than Roberto, a quality that shines right through his rosé.

Made with Nebbiolo from the trademark volcanic and porphyric slopes of Gattinara, it has an unmistakably mineral backbone along with the fruit density and build to age gracefully for a few years. If you only want a glass, you can open a bottle, put the rest in the fridge, and happily follow its evolution over a few days. And if you want to show off a little, you can decant it just like you would a young red wine and watch it open and change at the table.

The other thing we have learned since Roberto started making rosato? Everyone wants a pink wine they can drink now from one of the wine world's true masters. In what should be the least surprising development, this is a bottle that goes fast.

Nervi-Conterno Rosato 2025 - $37.99
This continues a spectacular streak, arriving with all the energy, tension, and brilliance that Roberto’s devotees have come to expect. Its a lovely light, shimmering salmon hue, but do not let the delicate color fool you because the nose immediately hits you with an intense burst of wild strawberries, blood orange zest, crushed mountain roses, and that signature, smoky Gattinara minerality. This vintage strikes a flawless balance between refreshment and serious Nebbiolo structure. It is bone dry and crackling with a vibrant, alpine acidity that cuts through the wine’s surprisingly deep fruit core, leaving a savory, saline finish that practically begs for food. Whether you are cracking a bottle for a casual afternoon on the patio or decanting it alongside a multi course dinner, the 2025 release is a brilliant example of what happens when world class terroir meets uncompromising winemaking. This is a truly essential bottle that will disappear from our shelves, and your cellar, quicker than you think.
