In the northern sector of St. Joseph, especially south of Chavanay, there is still land with good terroir that is cheap enough that with patience and luck you may just be able to start your own domaine. That’s exactly what Chatagnier did, after studying in Burgundy and with Cote Rotie producer Villard. This is a somewhat Burgundian take on St. Joseph, with a focus on elegance and fruit purity.
