Agrapart & Fils Champagne Extra Brut Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Mineral 2019 [NET]

$16999

Pascal Agrapart makes several single-vintage Champagnes off the same Avize hillside, each vinified identically so the soil does the talking — and Mineral is the chalk speaking at full volume. It's drawn from two lower-slope, pure-chalk parcels, in Avize and neighboring Cramant, of 40-plus-year-old Chardonnay, the coolest and most crystalline sites in his range. Native-yeast fermented in seasoned oak and dosed barely at all, it's the taut, laser-cut, salt-and-stone bottling — precision over power. This is grower Champagne from one of the Cote des Blancs' quiet legends, chalk you can practically taste.

Antonio Galloni

"The 2019 Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Minéral Grand Cru is fabulous. All it needs is time to unwind. Readers should be in no rush. Bright and packed with energy, the 2019 is so classy right out of the gate. Vibrant and intensely mineral, the 2019 is very closed in on itself. That won't be a problem in a few years' time, but for now, the Minéral is a wine for the cellar. Extended saline-inflected notes punctuate the sculpted finish, adding to the wine's alluring personality. Minéral, a blend of old-vine sites in Avize and Cramant, is slow to emerge, but it's a Champagne that rewards cellaring. Dosage is 2 grams per liter. Disgorged: June 2025; multiple disgorgements throughout the year." —Antonio Galloni

"Disgorged in October 2025 with a dosage of two grams per liter, the 2019 Blanc de Blancs Minéral has turned out beautifully, unfurling from the glass with notes of orange peel, yellow apple, peach, and mirabelle plum. It is full-bodied, concentrated and muscular, with a layered, ample and textural palate that exhibits a rich core of fruit and ripe yet racy acidity. Charming in profile, this is one of the more generously structured renditions of the cuvée on record, attaining some 13.5% alcohol after the second fermentation." —Kristaps Karklins

More about Agrapart & Fils

Strong and soft spoken, Pascal Agrapart has been working like this since 1984, well before today’s grower Champagne boom. Peter Liem compares his reputation for outstanding Côtes des Blancs wines to that of Anselme Selosse. Farming is intended to sync with natural cycles, and only indigenous yeast is used, capitalizing again on each plot’s unique terroir.

The house is based in Avize, in the Côtes des Blancs, and unsurprisingly focuses on Chardonnay. Agrapart creates terroir-driven and focused wines of great minerality and complexity, from plots chosen specifically for each cuvée. The farming is intuitive and meticulous; the work in the cellar is equally painstaking.
