This estate is a true outlier in the corporate landscape of Bordeaux. Run by Christian and Sylvie Auney, it is located in the commune of La Brède (which was, by the way, the home of the philosopher Montesquieu). While their neighbors were mechanizing and expanding, the Auneys spent years painstakingly reclaiming ten small, abandoned parcels of vines in the woods. They are the only estate in their commune to harvest entirely by hand, treating their terroirs in Graves with the reverence usually reserved for a First Growth. They are planted mostly to Merlot and Sémillon, as well as other traditional Bordeaux varieties.
