With a winemaking heritage that dates back more than 400 years, Château de Béru has long been known for its remarkable terroir, particularly the famed Clos Béru, a walled vineyard whose limestone-rich soils have produced exceptional wines since the 11th century. Once nearly lost to history, the estate was revitalized when Athénaïs de Béru took the reins, bringing a renewed focus on organic and biodynamic viticulture. Under her guidance, Château de Béru has become a leader in sustainability and low-intervention winemaking, crafting Chardonnays that beautifully reflect their origins—pure, precise, and deeply expressive.
Athénaïs’ approach is both respectful of tradition and boldly forward-thinking. She has embraced natural farming methods, working in harmony with the land to restore soil health, encourage biodiversity, and allow the vineyards to truly speak through the wines. In the cellar, she takes a hands-off approach, avoiding excessive manipulation to ensure that each wine captures the nuance of its vineyard. The result is wines of exceptional energy, minerality, and depth, offering a new perspective on what Chablis can be.
