Château d’Esclans is largely credited for starting the rosé boom in the US. When they first started focusing on the US market in 2007, Provencal rosé wasn’t known to many people outside of country clubs and ritzy beach towns. Most of the rest of the country’s idea of rosé was shaped by white zinfandel, which is polarizing to say the least. For many, their first sip of Whispering Angel from Chateau d’Esclans was a revelation that rosé could be light, refreshing, and dry. It quickly gained a following and started popping up in restaurants and bars all over. Over the years, Château d’Esclans has expanded their portfolio to include more premium wine.
