There’s a particular thrill in discovering wines that feel both familiar and unexpected. That’s exactly what you find in the villages just west of Chablis, where the landscape softens and the famous Kimmeridgian limestone carries on into much less-known vineyards.
This is the home of Domaine Bersan, a family with roots in this region, known as Auxerre, going back to the 15th century. They farm these hills with the same quiet intensity found among the great names of Chablis—except their wines offer a different perspective, one that is almost completely off the radar.
