Single-vineyard Meursault from the family that helped make single-vineyard Meursault a thing, and the label says village, not premier cru. À Mon Plaisir is Roulot's monopole clos inside the Hauts Tesson lieu-dit, with vines planted in 1951 and 1961. The back story is a good one. Two generations ago the Roulots were known for Burgundian brandy and eau de vie, and Guy Roulot used that distilling money to buy small plots of vines in Meursault. By the 1970s he was known for bottling Chardonnay separately by lieu-dit, when few others did. When he died unexpectedly in the early 1980s, his son Jean-Marc was working as an actor in Paris. Today Jean-Marc makes the wines from certified-organic vineyards, and his Meursault is bright, chiseled and restrained rather than rich, built to age a long time. If you love Roulot, this is a chance to taste one specific site through that lens. It will reward patience in the cellar.

More about

The name Roulot is now a synonym for the very best wine that the village of Meursault can offer. It is rather remarkable when you consider that just 2 generations back the Roulot's were known as producers of Burgundian brandy and eau de vie. But Guy Roulot began leveraging the family's distilling success to purchase small plots of vines in Meursault and by the 1970's was known as a pioneer for producing top quality chardonnay from distinct parcels or ""lieu-dits"".

When Guy passed away unexpectedly in the early '80's his son Jean-Marc was pursuing acting in Paris. In 1989 he returned to take on the reigns of the small Domaine and in the following decades built on his father's success so well that the wines are now extremely hard to acquire and to afford for most of us.

Tasting Profile

Expect Meursault in Roulot's chiseled, restrained style: lemon, white peach and green apple, a hint of hazelnut and a stony, mineral edge, without the buttery richness the village is often known for. It's typically medium-bodied, with taut, bright acidity and a long, dry, saline finish. This is a white built to age.
