Moulin Touchais is a historic winery dating, like our Constitution, back to 1787. But unlike the Constitution, these guys don't really fit the mold for 21st century (wine) darlings: they're a really big property, they make only one wine, and it's sweet. Which is all the more reason to love them!
Nearly all of the juice from those 145ha is sold locally as a cheap second label, and only the best of the fruit from the best parcels, the Coteaux du Layon holdings, is used for the estate's single wine. That single wine, which never sees oak, is a tremendous snapshot of vintage character.
