Cool-climate Chenin from the Beaumont family that brings old vines and young, many different aspects and a range of clones together in one bottle. Chenin Blanc is the most-planted grape on the family's farm in Bot River, and this bottling draws from across the estate. Bot River is a village in South Africa's Overberg. Beaumont's vines sit on the western side of the valley, about five miles from the ocean, in ancient shale with gravelly topsoils over a heavy clay base that holds moisture through the dry months. The family bought the farm in 1974, and Sebastian Beaumont has run the cellar since 2004. It's the oldest wine cellar in the region, with a history going back to the 1700s. The goal hasn't changed: capture the purity of the grape and make a great example of cooler-climate Chenin. This is an everyday Chenin from a serious family estate, and a wine that gives you far more than its humble role suggests.

Returns & Exchanges

We stand behind every bottle we sell.

  • If the wine is less than 10 years old and it is corked, you may return it to us for a full refund or exchange within 60 days of purchase. You must show us proof of purchase. We understand that you may not live near a shop and that it is difficult to ship open bottles of wine to us, so if there's any problem feel free to Contact Us and we'll work it out.
  • For wines older than 10 years, the consumer bears the risk of a faulty cork, but we accept returns of older bottles if the wine is faulty as a result of improper storage. Please come by the store or Contact Us if there is a problem.
  • We may, at our discretion and to the extent permitted by law, accept returns of unopened wines within 30 days of purchase if they were properly stored by the purchaser, subject to a 15% re-stocking fee.

Expect the bright, pure style of cool-climate Chenin Blanc: crisp apple, pear and citrus with hints of quince and a stony edge. Typically medium-bodied, with lively acidity and a gentle waxy texture, it finishes dry, fresh and clean. Think of it as a riper, sunnier cousin of a dry Loire Chenin.
