Robert Sinskey is making some of the most thoughtful and elegant wines to ever grace California’s slopes.
An oft repeated phrase of Robert’s is, “wine is not an athletic event”. Despite coming of age in the midst of California's trend toward big flavors and big scores, this philosophy is what sets him apart. He’s not looking for flash or bang and refuses to submit wines to reviewers, knowing that in a lineup of high-octane bigwigs, his subtle, meticulous offerings would stand forever under-appreciated.
Instead, he takes a more European approach, insisting that his wines are meant to be consumed with food, as food. Maria Sinskey, his wife, and an accomplished chef in her own right, has formulated a database on their website of food pairings and recipes for every single bottle produced on the estate.
