Tequila made the slow way, from the family's own organically farmed lowland Blue Weber agave. The Artesanal line is Arette's most traditional production: piñas slow-cooked in brick and stone ovens rather than modern autoclaves, spontaneous fermentation with the house's native yeast in the original open concrete tanks, then double distillation in copper pot stills. This Reposado rests in oak, which softens the edges without burying the cooked-agave character — and every bit of its colour and flavour comes from the barrel, with no glycerol, caramel, sweeteners or oak extract, the additives that quietly prop up so much tequila on the shelf. The Orendain family has been making tequila in Jalisco's Tequila Valley since 1900 and launched Arette in 1986 at their El Llano distillery, naming it for Arete, the Olympic gold medal-winning horse. Five generations in, they still do it the hard way, and you can taste the difference.
