A pilsner with a short, stubborn list of rules: 100% barley malt, aroma hops only, no dilution and a long, cold maturation. That's the whole philosophy behind Bavik Super Pils, and the brewery says the recipe hasn't changed in more than 50 years. It's good evidence that an everyday beer doesn't have to cut corners. "Not just any pils" is how they put it, meaning a lager that won't be adjusted or compromised at the expense of flavour. It's brewed by De Brabandere, a family brewery in Bavikhove, Belgium, which Adolphe De Brabandere founded at the end of the nineteenth century. The hops are noble Saaz, chosen for a smooth, fresh bitterness, and it's made for a second round rather than slow sipping. Keep the six-pack of 11.2oz in the fridge for nights when picking a wine feels like too much work.

Returns & Exchanges

We stand behind every bottle we sell.

  • If the wine is less than 10 years old and it is corked, you may return it to us for a full refund or exchange within 60 days of purchase. You must show us proof of purchase. We understand that you may not live near a shop and that it is difficult to ship open bottles of wine to us, so if there's any problem feel free to Contact Us and we'll work it out.
  • For wines older than 10 years, the consumer bears the risk of a faulty cork, but we accept returns of older bottles if the wine is faulty as a result of improper storage. Please come by the store or Contact Us if there is a problem.
  • We may, at our discretion and to the extent permitted by law, accept returns of unopened wines within 30 days of purchase if they were properly stored by the purchaser, subject to a 15% re-stocking fee.

The body is typically light and crisp with lively carbonation, and the bitterness is smooth rather than sharp, leading to a clean, thirst-quenching finish. Think of it as a softer cousin of a classic Czech pilsner.
