Black Maple Hill spent the 2000s as a byword for old sourced Kentucky bourbon, then damaged its own reputation in the mid-2010s by moving to Oregon-distilled whiskey. Rare Character Whiskey Co. of Lexington now owns the brand and has returned it to Kentucky-distilled, Kentucky-aged bourbon bottled at the original 95 proof, with the Red Label as the small-batch straight bourbon at the base of the range.
