From the producer:

A careful selection of grapes from old vineyards. The wine comes mostly from the historic Russeghine vineyard, located above the town of Ranzo Borgo. Red clayey soil, rich in skeleton and ferrous minerals.
Il Pigato Le Russeghine features depth and minerality, it is the fullest expression of a special terroir.

Ample and varietal on the nose: fruity aromas (yellow peach, citron, grapefruit), Mediterranean aromatic herbs (sage, thyme, pine resin, anise). Full and persistent on the palate, with marked savouriness and mineral hints. Citrus fruit and almond notes on the finish.

Place of origin: the Arroscia Valley. Mostly from the historic Russeghine vineyard, in the hill rising above the town of Ranzo Borgo at 230 meters above sea level, with a south-east exposure to sunlight. To a lesser extent, from other winery-owned vineyards located along the typical Ligurian terraced hillsides. Red clayey soil, rich in skeleton and ferrous minerals. The Russeghine hill has been registered as โ€œvineyardโ€ owned by the diocesan administration since the late 1700s.

What importer Bowler Wine has to say about this wine...

Le Russeghine is the first-known single-vineyard Pigato from Liguria, which Riccardo Bruna first produced in 1972. It is a selection of middle-aged and older vines from the eponymous vineyard, above the village of Ranzo Borgo, at 230m above sea level, exposed to the Southeast. This is an historic vineyard, with the name dating back to the census of 1700 when it belonged to the Bishop's See.
