Domaine des Croix Beaune 1er Cru les Cents Vignes 2023 [NET]

$10499

Les Cents Vignes is the old-vine heart of David Croix's Beaune lineup — his parcels here include vines planted in the 1950s, which brings real concentration and depth to a wine that's still unmistakably charming Beaune. Croix, who founded the domaine in 2005 after years running the cellar at Camille Giroud, farms organically (since 2008) with very low yields and a light touch: ambient-yeast fermentation, a small portion of whole clusters, used barrels, no fining or filtration. The site straddles a gravelly-clay upper slope and well-draining alluvial lower ground, giving the wine both lift and substance. 2023 delivered ripe, generous fruit across Beaune, and this is one of the more structured cuvées in the range — reward it with a few years in the cellar, or decant if you're opening one young.

Antonio Galloni

"I tasted the 2023 Beaune Les Cents Vignes 1er Cru from a new 500-liter barrel. It has a seductive nose with crushed strawberry, raspberry and floral scents. The palate is medium-bodied with crushed-stone-infused red fruit, a harmonious texture and a minerally, slightly savory finish. Excellent." —Neal Martin

Robert Parker

"The 2023 Beaune 1er Cru Les Cents Vignes bursts with aromas of raspberries, plums, spices and petals. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and nicely concentrated, with sweet tannins and good depth at the core, this is a site that does well in years where there isn't appreciable hydric stress." —William Kelley

More about Domaine des Croix

If you aren't with familiar with Domaine des Croix, there is one thing you should know: we love David Croix! He begin his winemaking career straight out of viticulture school when he took over the reigns at Camille Giroud (as well as working with Guy Roulot), when he was just 24 years old. In 2016 he quit his day job to focus entirely on his own small domaine, which he purchased back in 2005.
