Domaine Pecheur Cotes du Jura Rouge Cuvee des Trois Cepages 2024

$2999

This is the blend the locals drink: Trois Cepages, a traditional Jura red of Pinot Noir, Poulsard and Trousseau, the bottle a Darbonnay farmer would pour if you visited. From the tiny village of Darbonnay, the Pecheur family has spent half a century working a few hectares, worth knowing precisely because they don't chase innovation or acclaim. They farm according to organic principles with minimal machinery, letting the vineyards show the clarity that made Jura famous. Light in body, earthy, with alpine freshness; both quietly profound and wildly drinkable. Serve with a slight chill; the 2024 drinks now.

More about Domaine Pecheur

Domaine Pêcheur was recommended by none other than Nicole Deriaux of Domaine de Montbourgeau, that master traditionalist of L'Etoile. It's easy to see why: like Nicole, Christian and Patricia Pêcheur focus on the traditionally style, sous-voile aged white wines that are the specialty of the Jura. Like Nicole, they also make a small amount of delicious red.

Starting with Christian's parents' single hectare purchased forty years ago, the couple have now built up to 8 hectares in the Côtes du Jura and a third of a hectare in Château-Chalon. Farming is according to organic principles (but not certified), and harvest is by hand. The wines are very clean, expressive examples of their place with a hallmark silkiness to be enjoyed across the range.

Flatiron's Take

From the Importer

Rosenthal Wine Merchant

As its name implies, this wine combines the Jura’s three main red varieties Poulsard, Pinot Noir, and Trousseau in roughly equal proportions. Tactile, scrumptious red fruit gets a bit of punch from the Trousseau and a bit of suaveness from the Pinot Noir, offering an excellent sense of tension on the palate.
